The future of our school business

Firstly, We would like to give a brief introduction of ourself and our business. Last year, we started our school business Ethically Green. This business is a sole project of D.B.M.S Kadma High School, Jamshedpur. Our team consisted of 4 teachers and 10 senior students. We were thinking of what business we could start that would have environmental benefits aside from just earning profits. We found that not many people in Jamshedpur knew about the use of organic materials. People here do not know about organic farming or the science behind it. We immediately came to the conclusion that organic manure in its purest form is what we need to prepare and market. Our product would get sold very fast because there is no one in Jamshedpur who sells organic manure. Another feature of our manure is that it is completely odour less. No bad odour comes from it since we do not use wasted vegetables peels.

Our sales so far have been great.
So lets talk about the future of our business

We have been thinking of expanding our business by starting organic farming as well, with the help of our own manure. We will something like a kitchen garden in which we will grow many vegetables which will be very fresh and pesticide/chemical free. We also plan to donate some of funds to an old age home or an orphanage. We might also sponsor an under privileged student (depending on the funds we raise). We also want to educate people on the importance of organic farming/manure. We will take our whole team to educate students from different schools about this. This is very important and will raise awareness among people.

We want to take the following steps to ensure that we will meet our goals

 1) PREDICTING FUTURE DEMANDS TODAY-When Henry Ford made cheap, reliable cars people said, ‘No, what’s wrong with a horse?’ That was a huge bet he made, and it worked. Customers won't always be able to tell you what they need. It is the businessmen who should be able to predict the future needs. This needs a lot of experience and imagination.

2) Identify & start managing risks- We won’t be able to predict some problems that might occur in future but you can certainly take some steps to better prepare yourself. First, we need to find the risks or possible point of failures for our business. These risks could be in areas like people, system or business processes, data security, etc.

3) Listen to customers & observer their behavior -Business owners are normally so busy with product development and sales that they completely forget their main stake holder – The Customer. In order to future proof a business, one should start focusing on the changes in customer behavior that might happen in near future. This is exactly what we will do.

4) Follow the trends in developed countries- We think, this one is the easiest of all the other strategies. To stay ahead in the game, you must regularly track whats happening in other developed countries related to your industry. The term 'organic' was a trend that started in developed countries. This is how we got the idea to work on it.

We hope that our business has a very bright and successful future and also imparts knowledge and awareness among people.
